What better way to celebrate Fall and the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday than with cute scarecrows!
Cone cakes are cupcakes baked inside ice cream cones and kids love love love them. I'm always searching for fun ways to decorate cone cakes, especially around the holidays.
These guys and gals are super easy and all the ingredients are found in your grocery store. To bake cone cakes, order a set of our holders so they stay upright in the oven and then follow our instructions here.
Below is a step-by-step guide to making these scarecrows followed by a video. Enjoy!
Here's a list of everything you'll need to make Scarecrow Cone Cakes:
- Cone cake holders
- Boxed cake mix and accompanying oil, eggs and water
- Flat bottom ice cream cones
- White frosting
- Vanilla wafer cookies
- Mini M&Ms
- Shredded wheat
- Brown sprinkles
Make cone cakes, using the instructions here.
Once they have cooled on a cooling rack, frost using white frosting:
Place several shredded wheat pieces into a baggie and crush:
Roll the edges of the cone cake in the wheat to resemble hay:
Next cut the wafer cookies by 1/3 length-wise and assemble to form a hat, using white icing to hold the top and bottom pieces together.
Use Mini M&Ms for the eyes and nose, and sprinkles for the mouth.
