Thanksgiving is wonderful for the gathering of family and friends, many of whom we don't see often. It's a special time for traditions to be followed, for grandparents to bond with their grandkids, and for engaging in fun activities with the little ones!
These turkey cone cakes are a perfect activity for toddlers through teens! They are made using common grocery store items. Order our holders to keep your cone cakes upright. Below are instructions and a video on assembling these adorable treats! They are easy and so much fun.
Here's a list of everything you'll need to make Turkey Cone Cakes:
- Cone cake holders
- Boxed cake mix and accompanying oil, eggs and water
- Flat bottom ice cream cones
- Chocolate frosting
- Nutter butters
- Mini M&Ms
- Candy corn
- Candy eyes
- Red gel frosting in a tube
Make cone cakes, using the instructions here.
Once they have cooled on a cooling rack, frost using chocolate frosting:
Add Candy corn around the back half of the cone to make feathers:
Cut 1/3 of the Nutter Butter off and use the larger piece for the turkey head:
Press cookie into cone cake:
Put a small amount of frosting on the back of the eyes and adhere to the sides of the head:
Cut an orange mini M&M in half using a sharp knife (grown-ups only!) and place on front of turkey's head using a dab of frosting:
Use the gel frosting to create a "snood" (I had to look up what it's called), the red dangly thing around a turkey's beak:
